2012 Yarn & Fiber Shares

2012 Shares are now available!
2012 Fiber & Yarn CSA Shares are now available, and we have a Special Plan for the early part of the year.

The animals need more room!  So….. money from the first 35 shares sold will go into a special fund…..

The East Pasture fence built last year by The Welder

* The Build the New Fence Fund:  This fund will pay for fencing end another section of previously unused pasture land.  Although The Fancy Fibers Farm is comprised of 15 acres, we are only using about half of the land.  Our next pasture will be a large one and cross-fenced into sections.  Additionally, we will add a cross fence to the existing large north pasture.

We had previously planned to move our previous rabbitry building from our old house in the suburbs out here to the Farm.  However, in the months since that plan was announced, we’ve determined that moving the building was not feasible.

So, we are looking at other options to give our beautiful German Angora rabbits their own climate-controlled house.  One way or the other, it is our Shareholders that will make it possible.  Join us and they will reward you with incredibly soft fur!

The animals THANK YOU in advance for helping to make their home more comfortable!

  • Liz Crawley:

    Mary-

Enjoyed meeting you at Roc Day and supper at Landry’s. Hope you had a safe trip home. I have a question-what “comes with” the fiber share? I am interested!

    • Liz, it is different every year because it is dependent on what fiber we harvest from our animals. However, 2013 is going to be a particularly good year because we’ll have lots of super soft baby fiber (alpaca cria fiber, lambs’ wool, and kid mohair).

  • Jamie:

Speaking as a farmer (currently beef but formerly sheep & beef) your fencing is VERY nice and, I imagine, very expensive!! Good luck with the fencing.

    • Thanks, Jamie! There was barbed wire everywhere when we bought this place. The man who had the place before had cows. It had to be torn out. Can’t have barbed wire with fiber animals! I am fortunate to have a brother who is a welder and a fantastic fence builder, but he doesn’t work for free! We are very excited to have this new fence at the top of our list for 2012. The first roll of wire has already been purchased. Hope you’ll join us as a Shareholder!
