Today, my friend Bree came to visit. She had dropped precious daughter Olivia off with mutual friend Emily to play, loaded her new Shamrock spinning wheel (present from Mom and Dad) in the car, and driven out to Farmersville.
The purpose of her trip was the spinning lesson, tips, and tricks, that is included in the purchase of one of my wheels. Bree already had played with her wheel a little, so it didn’t take much to refine her technique and get her spinning some mighty fine yarn.
Bree wanted to buy some fiber to spin with her Christmas money, and she had plenty of time, so we I did what I always do when a new fiberista comes to the Farm! I introduced Bree to the world of dyeing her own spinning fiber.
This is her fiber after dyeing but before steaming….
And this is Bree’s roving after it was steamed, washed, and rinsed. Once it dries, it will be ready to spin. Didn’t she do a FABULOUS job!
Note to my regular Dye Day fiberistas: This was a combination of turquoise, purple, and aztec gold! Great choices, Bree.
Bree’s visit truly made my (otherwise drizzly yucky muddy) day a bunch of fun! Isn’t it great when we re-connect with people we met long ago through the fiber arts! I say, YES!
