Allyson's Baby Blanket. Allyson's blanket is a "custom design" just for Allyson. Almost. I actually made a blanket for Allyson's Mommy using the same pattern (but in different colors) for her college dorm room. And then there was the blanket I made for Allyson's Aunt Jamie in the same pattern (but in different colors) when she went away to college several years ago. The pattern makes its third appearance in baby colors for Allyson.

So what is the pattern? It's a two-color afghan stitch made using one of those long, funny looking crochet hooks. Each block is made separately using a pastel color and white, except for five blocks that are solid in color. Much sewing up of seams (trying not to make them too bumpy on the bottom) and then a couple of rows of double crochet around the edge, and you're through! You can find instructions for the afghan stitch in any good, old, crochet book, or on the internet at Vicki's Crochet Designs.
Here's a detailed picture of one of the two color blocks.
Allyson's Mommy liked the blanket. Maybe Allyson will, too.
